As a mommy of 4 kids, I find that is is very important to take some time to care for myself daily. I try my best to get in a little self-care each day but as I stated; I have 4 kids so self-care every single day isn’t always an option. Taking some time out to care for myself on a regular bases helps me to be a better mother, girlfriend, manager, coach. Maybe you are not a mom, either way, sometimes life gets overwhelming and we just need to take a mental health day to settle our brains, and just slow down.

In my opinion, meditation is one of the best things that you can do for your overall health and wellness. One of my favorite ways to relieve stress is to sit in silence, even if it is just for one minute. Every morning, I do my best to get up before anyone in my home so that I can soak up the silence. If you are new to meditation don’t worry I have you covered, 15 Simple Meditation Tips for Beginners.
2. Get Outside.
Get outside and soak up the sun, take in a few deep breaths and relax. Go on a hike, take a walk around your building at work. Explore your city, try a new coffee shop or a little cafe for lunch, there are so many tiny, hole in the wall shops and restaurants in existence that you don’t really get a chance to explore..because you are so busy.
3. Read a good book.
Take some time to sit by yourself in silence and just get lost in a good book. Reading is an awesome activity to add to your list of self-care day ideas because it provides an easy means of escape. You can get completely lost in a good story for hours on end. If you are not the kind of person that likes to read, maybe you enjoy having someone read to you, try using Audible. Sometimes I will go for a walk and listen to a book on Audible. Killing two self-care birds with one stone.
4. Listen to an Inspirational Podcast or Music.
Speaking of listening to books, why not try an inspirational podcast or music. We all know how uplifting music can be and how it can be another one of those wonderful stress relievers that we have been talking about. In my opinion, inspirational podcasts do the same as music, if not more. Sometimes I will listen to a podcast in my car on the way to work and a book while I walk…the self-care options are endless.
One of my favorite ways to relieve stress is by writing it outta me. For me, my journal is my blog. I use it as a creative outlet, and writing about things going in my life tends to relieve so much stress. If you’re an introvert and want to keep your sh*t to yourself, invest in a journal. There are thousand of Journal prompts that you can get off of Pinterest. I used a book called, May Cause Miracles by Gabby Bernstein. It is a 40-day guidebook, that you can use to get you started.
There are so many health benefits that you can gain from doing yoga. One of the best benefits of yoga is how it helps a person manage stress, which is known to have devastating effects on the body, mind, and spirit. I try to do yoga every night after my entire house as gone to sleep. “Regular yoga practice creates mental clarity and calmness; increases body awareness; relieves chronic stress patterns; relaxes the mind; centers attention, and sharpens concentration,” says Dr. Nevins. So get up and throw on some yoga at the end of the day. Namaste!
7. Soak in the Tub.
8. Enjoy a day at the Spa.
Nothing says stress relief like a spa day; mani-pedis are a gift from God. If you can, splurge and get a massage. We hold so much physical stress in our bodies, it’s insane.

10. Get Dressed Up.
To be honest with you, I hardly ever do this one. I don’t wear a lot of makeup and I live in my workout clothes, but let’s be honest when you look good you feel good, am I right? Go into your closet and find one of your favorite dresses or outfit, that makes you feel gorgeous. Take your time getting ready, style your hair, go all out on your makeup (if you want). Whatever you like to do that makes you feel your absolute best.
Hope you take some of these ideas and consider them for your own day of rest and relaxation.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy your self-care day. You deserve it, always.
