Is Shakeology a Weight Loss Shake?

 

I will never call Shakeology a “Weight loss shake” because it is an integral part of my nutrition for the rest of my life. Can it help with weight loss? Absolutely! When you feed your body the right stuff, it stops craving the bad stuff…hence you lose weight!

Shakeology has been a NON-Negotiable part of my Daily Diet for 5 years. Not only my own diet but my kids as well. I LOVE knowing that I am fueling my body every single day with 70 TOP superfoods grown in the most nutrient-dense soils around the world with the highest quality of care and attention paid to every single detail. Shakeology: Change Starts Here

 

There are misconceptions out there about “Protein”, “Weight loss” and “Health Shakes”, so let me clear up a few.

 

#1 Misconception: Shakeology is a “PROTEIN” Shake. Meaning just a shake that provides extra protein. I can’t blame the general public for thinking this since “protein shake” has become nearly an interchangeable term for ANY shake. But, all shakes are not created equal, especially ones that contain just protein. Shakeology is a very nutrient-dense MEAL REPLACEMENT. By replacement I mean it is the nutritional equivalent to FIVE plates of salad. I don’t know about you, I do love salad, but I don’t care to eat five a day and certainly couldn’t do it for 180 calories. Shakeology makes it very easy to cut your calories LOW, without subsequently cutting your daily volume of nutrients needed. Truth be told, the majority of people are WAY MORE nutrient deficient, than they are protein deficient. So why just stop at a protein shake?

#2 Misconception: Shakeology is about comparing Carbs, Proteins, and Fats (i.e. Macronutrients). This is not at all what makes Shakeology stand alone. It’s about EVERYTHING else. The quality of all the ingredients, where they come from and what they do for your internal health on a cellular level. Its also about what shakeology does NOT have in it. NO artificial sweeteners, NO artificial colors, NO soy, NO artificial stimulants, NO artificial flavors. The sweetener, Stevia, is from a plant base. So often I see people comparing shakeology completely on terms that are irrelevant and foregoing basic nutrition needs and food quality. There are so many “weight loss shakes” out there that are actually BAD for you! They contain ZERO nutrition and so many chemicals, and so low in calories, you will be starving by your next meal!


#3 Misconception: Shakeology is not a WHOLE food. Actually, yes it is. Unlike many “processed fake” foods, most of Shakeology’s unique ingredients are imported from their countries of origin. Each superfood has a unique way of being “preserved”. It’s a very difficult and tedious process to dry food out enough that it can be ground and stored in a bag, but not so much that it’s precious nutritional enzymes are killed deeming its nutritional value, useless. If it is not dried well enough, the ingredients literally can go rancid in the bag. It’s literally within a 5-degree temperature that makes the difference between keeping its nutritional integrity or burning it off. Think of doing this tedious process times 70. That’s the number of superfoods (like wheatgrass, chia seed, goji berries, maca root to name a few) in Shakeology that must EACH go through this process to keep its whole-food integrity. I am confident in saying it’s a form of “dry juicing”. Except with juicing you are typically not juicing this many ingredients and Shakeology is way less expensive and time-saving.

#4 Misconception: Shakeology is EXPENSIVE. To anyone who feels this product is expensive, I know that I have not done my diligence in breaking down its REAL VALUE. Most people will agree that they would spend an average of $3-$7 on a HEALTHY nutritious meal. I know most store-bought salads cost even more than that and don’t contain near the dense vitamins. But on average I think we can all agree healthy meals run between $3-$7. Shakeology at $4.30 per MEAL (you are REPLACING a meal that you’d be buying anyway) comes in on the LOW END of average. Not only are you replacing a meal, but you are also getting an entire day worth of vitamins that your body needs. So you are replacing your VITAMINS, too. Sure, you may need a specific vitamin based on your conditions, geography or age, but in general, Shakeology will provide you (and your children) with all your daily whole food vitamins. Here is my next point. When was the last time you went to your grocery store and bought THIRTY meals all at once? Typically, I’m guessing, you buy a few days worth each time. When you buy a bulk bag of Shakeology, you are buying 30 of your monthly meals upfront. That’s 30 meals LESS than you’d be spending at the grocery store. Because of the grocery savings, I actually deduct my monthly Shakeology from my grocery budget. It’s literally the least expensive AND the densest nutritious daily meal my family consumes. For the price, I can not duplicate its vast quality of ingredients and nutrients.

#5 Misconception: Shakeology is a WEIGHT LOSS SHAKE. Let’s face it, most shakes are marketed this way so it’s what one would assume…But here’s the thing. Anything will induce weight loss if low enough in calories. Just because you are drinking a shake, does not mean the fat will melt off. Actually, if you are not getting enough nutrients and calories you will actually inhibit your weight loss efforts. Shakeology is about HEALTH. When you put the RIGHT nutrients in your body that it needs to develop, heal, recover, repair and thrive, you will ultimately have MORE energy, LESS cravings, and FEEL better, therefore, you eat less and become more active. With Shakeology, weight loss becomes a BY-PRODUCT of dense nutrition. To make my point, when was the last time you dieted and cut calories only to feel tired, grouchy and had a ton of cravings? That is because you were nutrient deficient. It’s nearly impossible, even on a perfect diet, to cut calories without cutting your volume of needed nutrients leaving your body screaming for MORE (which we manifest as cravings).
Shakeology is your BASE. Everything you do beyond that you know you’re at least covered. What if you’re at your goal weight, or need to GAIN weight? Because Shakeology is about DENSE NUTRITION you can use it as your meal base and add clean calories to it making it a 300 calorie, 500 calories or even more… meal. Let’s face it, not everyone needs to lose weight, but everyone needs to be healthier. And if you need to gain weight…why on EARTH would you fuel your body with all the chemicals that Ensure and Pediasure contain? Shakeology isn’t MAGIC. It’s just clean dense nutrition made SUPER easy for everyone at a very affordable price. It’s my families “fast food” on the counter. Yes- my family goes through 4-5 bags a MONTH because even though we all have different weight and caloric needs, we all share the same NUTRITIONAL needs.
